Dear Prospective Juror,
You have been selected to serve as a prospective juror. It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to jury service on behalf of the judges of the Lake County Circuit and Superior Courts, and I hope you will find the experience rewarding.
Effective January 1, 2003, the revised Indiana Jury Rules became effective and created a ONE DAY, ONE TRIAL system for the entire State of Indiana. If you are called to serve, your term of service will end after jury selection is complete and you are released by the court OR after the trial you have been selected for has ended and you are released by the court.
Please be aware that should you be selected for a jury, the trial may last for several days. The average jury trial length in Lake County is 2-3 days. Please notify your employer of your impending service immediately. CELLULAR PHONES ARE NOT ALLOWED IN EITHER THE CROWN POINT OR EAST CHICAGO COURTHOUSES
If you have a disability and are in need of an accommodation, please call (219) 755-3494, upon receipt of your notice.
The Judges and I thank you in advance for your time and energy in assisting the court.
